Sheriff Michael A. Jackson was sworn into office on December 2, 2002.
Born in Cheverly, Maryland on March 29, 1964, He grew up in Forestville, MD and graduated from Crossland High School in 1982. He then went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree from the DeVry Institute of Technology in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1986.
Serving in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves from 1982-1985, he joined the Office of the Sheriff in September 1989. He was elected as the President of FOP Lodge #112 in October 1997, he represented his fellow deputies as the union head until December 2002.
Upon becoming Sheriff, he started the first 24 hour/7 day a week Domestic Violence Enforcement Unit in the region.
Currently Sheriff Jackson serves on the Board of Directors for the Court Officers and Deputies Association (CODA) of the National Sheriff's Association and is Vice President of the Maryland Sheriff's Association.
He is also a member of American Legion Post #275, College Park Moose Lodge #453, and the Mitchellville Kiwanis Club.
Sheriff Jackson resides in Brandywine, Maryland with his wife Kim, and their son, Aaron.
